Hyeonjin Chung

Hyeonjin Chung received the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in electronic engineering from Hanyang University, Seoul, South Korea, in 2018, 2020, and 2024, respectively. In 2024, he was awarded the Best Dissertation Prize from Hanyang University.

He is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Wireless Information and Network Sciences Laboratory at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge, MA, USA. His research interests include communications and sensing in both classical and quantum domains, with a focus on large-scale (and distributed) MIMO, intelligent surfaces, and Rydberg atomic receivers. As enabling techniques, he recently utilizes digital twins and AI/ML, along with classical optimization.

Dr. Chung was a recipient of the Global Ph.D. Fellowship (2019–2024) and the Sejong Science Fellowship (2024–2026) from the Ministry of Science and ICT, South Korea. He received the Bronze Prize in the 2021 IEEE Seoul Section Student Paper Contest and the Silver Prize at the 31st Samsung Humantech Paper Awards in 2023. In 2024, his patent families on NR Sidelink communications were assigned to Hyundai Motor Company and KIA Corporation. He served as a reviewer for multiple journals, including IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, IEEE Transactions on Communications, IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, and IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology.
