Watcharapan Suwansantisuk
Watcharapan Suwansantisuk received the B.S. degrees (with University Honors) in electrical and computer engineering and in computer science from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, United States, in 2002. He received the M.S. degree in electrical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States, in 2004.Since 2002, he has been with the Wireless Communication and Network Sciences Laboratory (WINS Lab) at MIT, where he is now a Ph.D. candidate. His main research interests are communication theory and synchronization theory with applications to ultra-wide bandwidth (UWB) systems. He spent the summer of 2005 at the Istituto di Elettronica e di Ingegneria dell’Informazione e delle Telecomunicazioni (IEIIT) of the University of Bologna in Italy as a visiting research scholar. He spent the summer of 2008 at Alcatel-Lucent Bells Laboratory, Crawford Hill, New Jersey, as a summer research intern.
Mr. Suwansantisuk served as a member of the Technical Program Committee (TPC) for the IEEE Conference on Ultra Wideband (2006), the IEEE International Conference on Communications (2007 and 2011), and the IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference (2009). He served as a reviewer for IEEE and IET journals. He received the Morris Joseph Levin Award in 2004 for best Master’s thesis presentation from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, a best paper award from the IEEE First International Conference on Next-Generation Wireless Systems (co-sponsored by IEEE Communications Society) in 2006, a Claude E. Shannon Fellowship from LIDS in 2007, and the Leonard G. Abraham Prize in the Field of Communications Systems from the IEEE Communications Society in 2011.
