Stefano Marano
Stefano Marano (SM’16) received the Laurea (summa cum laude) in electronic engineering and the Ph.D. in electronic engineering and computer science, both from the University of Naples, Italy, in 1993 and 1997, respectively.
He is a Professor at Department of Information & Electrical Engineering and Applied Mathematics (DIEM), University of Salerno, Italy. He has held visiting positions at Physics Dept., University of Wales, College of Cardiff, and ECE Dept., University of California at San Diego, in 1996 and 2013, respectively. Since 2021, he has been a frequent visitor to the Wireless Information and Network Sciences Laboratory at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he presently holds the Research Affiliate appointment. His research interests include decision theory, distributed inference, and quantum information science. He is the recipient of IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society Sergei A. Schelkunoff Transactions Prize Paper Award in 1999.
Dr. Marano served as Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing (2010-2014) and as Associate Editor and Technical Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems (2009-2016). He was in the organizing committee of FUSION 2006, and RADARCON 2008, and member of the EURASIP “Theoretical and Methodological Trends in Signal Processing” Special Area Team.
